How I use Herb Magic in El Temazcal / the Sweatlodge

Have you been in a traditional women’s lodge?

I mean, not just “a lodge for women”, but a moon lodge. A Temazcal run by a matriarch lineage, and a wise woman temascalera. Yup, that’s my tradition and we’re all about the herbal magic in my moon path!

This is how I use Herb Magic in my Sweatlodge:

  • I use my local plants in the ceremony and I prefer aromatics, some calmatives, or maybe some with special medicinal properties.

  • I always hang fresh herbs in the roof of the sweat, because a Lakota Grandmother taught me so.

  • In one of the doors, we share a cup of herbal tea (which one is determined by the Goddess).

  • I put herbs on the hot stones, which allows for their healing properties to come inside the body through respiration.

That’s the work of an herbal witch. But I assure you there are ways you can use herbs in Your Rituals and Magic.

Here’re a few examples:

As offerings on your altar, burned as smudge, infusing the herbs with your prayers, casting protection spells, and carrying them as an amulet.

I’m off to do a temazcal with my best friend now, here at my farm! We’ll most likely be using the Artemisas today. Which herb will you use in your full moon ritual?

The Shop with Herbs for Your Magick Spells and Rituals is open until Tuesday September 9th.
